The original Outlast released back in 2013 and quickly grew critical and commercial success as one of the most terrifying modern horror games out there, and developer Red Barrels have finally lifted the curtain back on the next chapter in its terrifying horror series.
Red Barrels have officially revealed Outlast II following previous reports that the studio was intending to create a sequel, with the next game to arrive on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Fall 2016.
Details on the game are sparse at the moment, though the first teaser trailer for the game was released through the developer’s YouTube channel, along with some snippets in the trailer’s description that give several clues as to what we can expect from Outlast II:
Outlast 2, the sequel to the acclaimed survival horror game Outlast, is a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets.
No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.
Outlast II will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Fall 2016 – in the meantime, you can check out the game’s debut teaser below:
