The Ouya launched last summer to mixed reactions: many praised its unique take on traditional console gaming by combining the market of free-to-play games, while others found many faults with its technical shortcomings and relatively low ratio of quality-to-quantity titles.
The developers at Ouya, however, are reported to be preparing a new service, titled “Ouya Everywhere,” that will provide Ouya gaming on the go on other possible devices and platforms, rather than just exclusively on the Ouya home console. Speaking with SlashDot, Ouya Founder and CEO Julie Uhrman teased the new service with the outlet, but refrained from giving any specific details until the “official announcement” arrives this week/next week.
Ohrman discussed about the Ouya Everywhere service:
“Right now, our growth is limited by how quickly we can make a box and put it into market… We know that our demand far exceeds our ability to do that. It could be another set-top [box]. It could be the TV itself. There’s a number of different ways that games can be played on the television, and we’re actively exploring all of them.”
