Overkill, the developer of the popular PayDay franchise, has officially partnered with Skybound Entertainment to develop a co-op The Walking Dead game to be published by Starbreeze.

The announcement was released today in a teaser trailer on Overkill's YouTube channel. The video is three minutes long and features a long still shot in the room of a home. A little girl can be heard pounding outside the home, yelling in a panic to be let in as shadows of zombies pass by the window. Soon after, blood curdling screams can be heard as she likely meets her end. Panting of a man increases inside the room, before a single gunshot explodes blood across the wall as the character commits suicide.

A twangy guitar beat then plays as the words "In 2016 Washington Falls" appear on the screen followed by "Robert Kirkman presents Overkill's The Walking Dead." The trailer then ends with Robert Kirkman on screen saying that he's:

...huge fan of what Overkill and Starbreeze have been able to do with PayDay 2...

and that

...because of everything they have done and how cool that game is, I'm super excited to announce that Skybound is partnering with Overkill to do a Walking Dead game. And I'm happy to say it is the co-op game that all the Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.

To commemorate the occasion, PayDay 2 fans will also be able to download a new piece of DLC: a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire named "Lucille."
