Overwatch’s Next Hero Might Be Announced at San Diego Comic Con 2016

on July 8, 2016 1:54 PM

With previous rumors indicating that the next Overwatch character may be a support/sniper hybrid (by the rumored name of “Sombra”, and may be tied to one of the game’s other characters), it appears we may get to know sooner rather than later who the next hero will be to join the Overwatch team.

In an update on the schedule page for San Diego Comic Con 2016, new information revealed that Blizzard Entertainment will host a panel dedicated specifically to the reveal/announcement of a new character, with the discussion titled “Behind the Scenes of Overwatch’s Newest Hero.”

The panel will feature Blizzard developers James Waugh (director of story & creative development), Michael Chu (senior designer), Arnold Tsang (assistant art director), and moderator Kim Phan (senior manager, eSports) as they talk about the creative process behind a new character for Overwatch, which (hopefully) will relate to the teases Blizzard released earlier this week.

The panel will take place on Thursday, July 21st from 6:45pm – 7:45pm during San Diego Comic Con 2016, which itself will take place from July 20th – 24th in San Diego, California.

Overwatch is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
