Owlboy Looks Like the Best Sega Genesis Game I’ve Never Played

on August 22, 2011 8:00 PM

I’m not sure how the hell I managed to not hear about Owlboy until now; the game looks like my dreams. Developed by D-Pad Studios, it’s a retro-styled action-adventure platformer bursting with gorgeous character designs and even more promising depth.

Now, we can find out if the gameplay itself is equally good as well, as D-Pad has been gracious enough to give us a demo for the as-of-yet-unreleased game. Check out the trailer after the jump, and tell me you don’t want to be all up in that.

The more I see of this, the more I want the entire game. Unfortunately, there’s no release date yet, but I can only hope it’s soon; this is now one of my most anticipated games of the year.

Allen is an utter whore of a gamer; he's completely open-minded to all games, be they AAA blockbusters or $5 casual children's games. His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks. When he's not geeking out over the newest art game, he's out toning his sexy, sculpted shoulders while surfing epic 1.5ft waves, or having a good time with local, high-gravity microbrews.
