After many rumors circulated this year, Paper Mario: Color Splash was officially announced for the Wii U during today's Nintendo Direct. The latest entry in the beloved series introduces a new location for Mario and his friends as well as a new paint-based mechanic.

The color of Prism Island has been drained and its up to Mario to restore it. Puzzles will involve Mario restoring the color to the various locations both in and out of battle. In battle players can special cards and then flick them to start the battle.

While no release date was given, the game is currently scheduled to hit in 2016.
