The second half of the Persona 2 game equation, Eternal Punishment, has been announced for release on the PlayStation Portable in Japan on May 17. Its companion game, Innocent Sin, was released in North America last fall to my unamusement.

Eternal Punishment follows the storyline of Innocent Sin, focusing on spunky gal reporter Maya. In an alternate reality in which the events of the previous game did not happen, Maya must unravel the mystery and in typical Persona fashion set things to rights.

The updated port to the PSP will include new scenarios by original script writer Tadashi Satomi as well as a new opening animation crafted by Madhouse Inc. Both the original and updated versions of the game music will be provided, and gamers have been promised improved load times. There is no word yet from Atlus on a North American localization.
