I’m an MMO fan, although have never played any of the online Phantasy Star titles. I swear that will change this time around. We brought you some news and screens the other day about Phantasy Star Online 2, which was officially talked about at a Sega even in Japan on Sunday. Now we have the trailer that was shown off there, although it isn’t the greatest quality. Unfortunately, there’s no direct-feed trailer yet.
The first part is pretty boring, to be honest, and I have no idea what the Japanese text is telling us, but at about 1:25 things start picking up and we start seeing some gameplay. I’m awed at the fluidity of the character animations and the vibrant environment. It looks like it plays really smooth, and very MMO-like. Also, check out the chick firing the weapon at about 1:59, that looks pretty sweet with the steady over-the-shoulder firing system.
It looks like Sega is aiming for a 2011 release of Phantasy Star Online 2 for the PC only in Japan, which means, if it does come West, we won’t see it for a year or better. Should it come to consoles? Absolutely. Stay tuned for more info on this one as it comes in, and check out the full trailer after the jump.
