Alongside the announcement of Cities: Skylines coming to PS4 this August, publisher Paradox Interactive announced today that it's bringing Obsidian Entertainment's RPG, Pillars of Eternity, to PS4 and Xbox One on August 29th, in the form of Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition, which includes the base game, and its two-part expansion pack, The White March.

For those that don't know Pillars of Enternity is an old-school-styled RPG that released on PC, Mac, and Linux, back in March of 2015. The game is said to be a spiritual successor to classics like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate.

The game first emerged on the scene via Kickstarter, where it raised over $4 million USD, which at the time was the highest funded video game of all time, and still is among the top-funded games ever on the crowdfunding platform.

Upon release the game garnered both praise from gamers and critics for its world, strategic combat, and stellar writing. A two-part expansion pack, Pillars of Eternity: The White March followed up the base-game in August 2015 and February 2016. Then, a sequel, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, was announced in January 2017.

Development of Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition is being handled by Paradox Arctic and distributed at physical retail by 505 Games. The console ports will feature an enhanced UI and redesigned controls designed from the ground-up.
