PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will be coming to PS4 and PS Vita this summer, as announced by PS Blog today. And this isn’t just some lazy port either — according to the developers, they’ve made some big changes to the game to hopefully ensure that old fans of the series will enjoy Ultimate as a new experience.
Ultimate combines the first and second campaigns from the original games into this new version. The devs also completely upgraded the graphics on the PS4 version such as real-time environment lighting; new visual FX for projectiles, explosions, thrusters, etc.; improvement on fluids through increasing the resolution of the particles; improved shaders; anti-aliasing for the edges of the fluids; reworked color palette; every scene now has color grading.
A 3D ship has also been introduced to the PS4 version, which allows the devs tp add animations for aeronautical maneuvering that gives better visual feedback, as well as other visual improvements. The game will also run at 60 FPS on PS4. PS Vita version hasn’t been forgotten and Ultimate on that system will include the same environments as other versions.
More features include: the same sequel improvements will be on all campaigns, the HUD will be redesigned, cross-save and cross-play are both possible between PS4 and PS Vita and finally, a new scoring system will be in place.
