Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition has failed to make its way through Sony's certification testing, developer 4J Studios announced today.

Sony found some issues we have to fix in their final test of #MinecraftPS4 :(. We're fixing, but we need to go through the process again.

While this isn't incredibly unusual - Many of the issues that can cause a failure are quite minor - it does cast doubt on whether 4J will be able to release Minecraft on its targeted release date later this month.

4J submitted their current build of Minecraft on August 12, and if it takes the same amount of time for Sony to look at the second version of the game it won't be approved until early September.

Currently nothing is known about the PlayStation Vita and Xbox One versions of Minecraft, which were also targeting an August release date.
