Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia held its press conference on the 1st, and they impressed many with a whole lot of titles, especially for the PS4, but how did the Japanese audience like it?

Nico Nico is a good indication, as it’s used mostly by Japanese viewers and has a rating system at the end of each broadcast, where each user is asked to cast his vote. Here’s the result for Sony’s performance.

  1. It was very good: 32.2%
  2. It was pretty good: 26.5%
  3. It was average: 19.1%
  4. It wasn’t very good: 10.6%
  5. It was bad: 11.5%

Basically, the 58.7% of the about 100,000 viewers on Nico Nico was pleased by the conference, while 22.1% of the audience wasn’t, to a varying extent, with a remarkably high 19.1% on the fence.

The appreciation rate is actually considerably lower than last year, when the conference receive 88.7% positive ratings and only 6.2% negative.

It’s hard to say what caused this result, even if the lower attention for PS Vita (which is quite well lowed locally) and the comparison between the new president Atsushi Morita and the fan favorite (and now retired) Hiroshi Kawano might have weighed on the percentages.
