Sony Interactive Entertainment just announced via mail to North American PSN users that the Live Events Viewer app on PS4 and PS3 will be discontinued on January 10th.

If you’re on PS4, this is not an issue, as you’ll simply be able to purchase live events directly from the PlayStation Store, also starting on January 10th. They will be available once purchased in the “My Videos” area of the PlayStation Store itself.

Unfortunately, PS3 isn’t getting a replacement, which means that live events won’t be available anymore on Sony’s older console. If you’re still on PS3, it might be time to upgrade.

The Live Events viewer was launchedĀ for free in 2013 for PS3 and the following year for PS4, and like all good things, it’s time for it to go the way of the dodo.
