PlayStation Move Motion Controller

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) today at GDC announced that the PlayStation Move motion controller for PlayStation 3 will launch worldwide this fall and promises a motion-based, high-definition gaming experience that will blow away anything seen before.

The PlayStation Move platform, including the motion controller, sub-controller, and PlayStation Eye, together with a strong lineup of software titles including SOCOM 4, will release to high expectations and immediate support for some of the hottest upcoming games. Releasing in 3 different bundles including alone, with the PlayStation Eye, or bundled with a PS3. At this time the only price announced was with the PlayStation Eye and one game to be announced later for under $99. Both controllers will include the built in lithium-ion rechargeable battery as well as Blue-tooth technology to ensure flawless operation with the PS3.

The PlayStation Move and PlayStation Eye combines to detect a gamers precise movement to react as if the player were inside the game. The Platform uses a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a color-changing sphere that is tracked by PlayStation Eye camera to bring the ultimate reaction and response to movement. No matter what direction or move you make, the end result will be one of pure smoothness between gamer and controller.

The PlayStation move will be able to detect both fast and subtle motion, whether the user is swinging a tennis racket or painting with a brush. Gamers can provide direct input through action buttons and the analog trigger, while receiving physical feedback from rumble functionality and visual feedback from the sphere’s ability to display a variety of different colors which was shown with a variety of games at GDC. The PlayStation Eye camera can capture the player’s voice or image, for a full reality experience. Seeing yourself in the game while participating will be an awesome experience to say the least.
