Sony has announced today that their Platinum wireless headset will be launching on January 12th in North America for $159.99.
A new video was released alongside the announcement, explaining how developer Naughty Dog will be taking advantage of the device’s 3D audio technology, which makes sound seem like it’s coming from different directions and distances, similar to real life.
When the wireless headset launches next month, Naughty Dog will patch Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with 3D audio support. Afterwords, titles like MLB The Show 17, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Days Gone will each be getting the same treatment, with Sony promising that there’s “more to come.”
This Platinum headset is described as a device that “combines superior construction and design offering style, durability, and maximum comfort – especially for long gaming sessions.” Compatible with mobile devices and PlayStation VR, a 3.5 mm audio jack is included in the box.
Sony released a video showing off the slick looking headset during PlayStation Experience 2016 earlier this month. Originally set for this Holiday, Sony announced that the headset had been pushed back to January this part October.
