Thanks to the tremendous success of Yooka-Laylee's Kickstarter, the title will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Windows, Mac, and Linux on the same day. Initially the plan was to release on all of the major consoles at different times based on funding, but with the Kickstarter surpassing the goal of £1 million ($1.5m), Playtonic has announced Yooka-Laylee will be available on all platforms day one. Playtonic has also added two new stretch goals of £1.1 million for a N64 shader and rap video, and £1.2 million for a developer walkthrough and commentary.

Yooka-Laylee was revealed via Kickstarter on May 1, 2015 and quickly surpassed their funding goal of $270,041. Playtonic is made up of key Rare developers, creators of Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country, and Viva Pinata. With 45 more days left for funding, it is safe to assume the game will surpass the new stretch goals. Yooka-Laylee has a release window of October 2016.
