On Saturday, March 5, 2011, the Nintendo World Store in New York City and Rockefeller Center played host to the launch event for Pokémon Black and White Versions. The two newest additions to the long-lasting Pokémon series arrived in grand fashion a day before its official release across the U.S. There is no question that fans were treated to quite an eventful day.

The line for the event was crazy. As you can see with the video shown above, Pokémon is well worth the wait. This video was shot an hour and a half after the event had started. So, you can imagine how insane it must have been before doors opened.

Pokémon fans of all ages came together to celebrate the one thing that unites them all -- Pokémon. Pokémon took over Rockefeller Center with giant inflatable versions of the newest Pokémon, game stations running both Black and White Version, and a stage that featured alternative rock band, The Presidents of the United States of America. Attendees were encouraged to participate in all of the festivities of the day, and in doing so, collected five stamps to earn them some nice swag! Who doesn't want T-shirts and posters? Some of the festivities include taking photos at the designated booth area, playing Pokémon Black and White version, and simply getting through the swarms of people and surviving. That last part was my favorite!

At the end of the day, getting the game was the main goal for most of the people who showed up to the launch event of Pokémon Black and White Version. Even if it was just one day, Pokémon fans were sent home happy with an early copy of the game to enjoy for the rest of the weekend. Please be sure to check out the rest of the photos of the day below. Now go and catch 'em all!
