Pokemon GO Gets a Swath of New Screenshots, Details on Battle System

Pokemon GO is due out this year, and with all the buzz surrounding the closed beta later this month developer Nicalis has fleshed out some details regarding the battle system.

As you walk around the world, Pokemon GO players will get occasional notifications that a Pokemon is nearby. From there, they can attempt to catch said Pokemon by tossing some Pokeballs at it — a la the usual method in Pokemon game.

Battling will let you use the Pokemon you’ve captured and trained to takeover control of a gym. You will use your own attacks and dodge incoming attacks by swiping left and right on the screen. Once you manage to defeat the Gym, you can set up your own Pokemon to defend the gym in your absence from the two opposing teams looking to conquer it.

Pokemon GO is a free-to-play title, coming exclusively to iOS and Android devices. Check out the screenshots below:
