Niantic has announced today that Pokémon GO will be receiving a holiday event this Sunday morning - Christmas day - lasting through the afternoon of January 3rd.

Pokéstops visited by players during this time frame will provide a greater chance of finding eggs that hatch Togepi, Pichu, and several other Pokémon native to the Johto region. Furthermore, PokéStops will also grant people with a single-use Incubator each day after their first Photo Disc spin.

The festive Pikachu wearing a Santa Claus hat will be more likely to be found during this event, allowing users time to evolve their existing limited edition Pikachu into a jolly Raichu with the hat on without sacrificing the appeal of their collection.

Lastly, starter Pokémon will also have increased chances of being caught, meaning those new to the game can have a good start. Specifically, there'll be a greater chance to catch Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise. As an added bonus, lures will last for 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes, allowing encounters to become more common.

Pokémon GO recently released on Apple Watch with workout integration. Niantic introduced new creatures to the game earlier this month, promising that even more will be coming in the next few months. The popular mobile game is available now for iOS and Android.
