The Pokémon Company International and Niantic have announced that the first addition of new Pokémon in Pokémon GO will be coming to the mobile game later today.

Promising that even more will be coming in the next few months, Togepi, Pichu, and "select others" from the Jhoto region featured in Pokémon Gold and Silver will be available for trainers to hatch from eggs.

In addition to the news, a limited edition Pikachu wearing a Santa Claus hat will also be available all over the world until December 29th.

Today's announcement comes shortly after over 7,800 new Gyms and PokéStops opened up to players last week thanks to the support of Starbucks. These locations can be used battle other players, grab items, and, of course, catch Pokémon.

Sprint jumped in on the bandwagon as well, with over 10,500 Sprint locations all around the United States becoming PokéStops and Gyms too.

The partnerships only bear good news for dedicated trainers, as they'll have more opportunities to catch this first batch of Jhoto hatchlings in time for the holiday season.

In case you were living under a rock this past summer, Pokémon GO is available now for iOS and Android. A trailer that accompanied the announcement can be found below:
