Pokkén Tournament Confirmed for Spring 2016 Wii U Release

on August 21, 2015 10:13 AM

As it was reported yesterday that Pokken Tournament was trademarked in Europe, today the Pokemon company confirmed that the fighting game will indeed be coming to Wii U in Spring 2016. This was announced with a brand new trailer, uploaded to the company’s official Youtube channel.

Previously, the game was only available in arcades. This title plays as a crossover between Tekken and Pokémon, where players control Pokémon creatures and do battle. The fighting game has a decent selection of characters for its roster, including Pikachu Libre, wearing a luchador costume.

It was unclear if the game would ever be released on consoles, but this news is exciting for Wii U owners who have been desperate for a Pokemon title on the system. The specific release date is currently unknown.
