Activision's Call of  Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has sold considerably well in Japan. The sales of the first MW game combined with its sequels create a series total of more than 500,000 copies. Apparently, MW2 is responsible for just over 300,000 of these copies.

This can be considered a feat because first person shooters in general are not a very popular genre in Japan (how I envy them). These kinds of games rarely sell as well as MW2 has in this case. Released in December of 2009, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is developed by Infinity Ward and published in Japan by Square-Enix. Square-Enix has also announced a price cut for the game, effective September 2nd.
