Portal Used for College Course Fun

Is Portal‘s content educational enough for it to help teach with Aristotle and Shakespeare? Apparently so, as those who are starting their college adventures at Wabash College  will be required to play the popular FPS as a part of a new course that will be available in spring .

Michael Abbott was the man behind the design of Portal, and is also a teacher at the school. When talking about the course, “Enduring Questions,” which will have the subsection that will require the playing of Portal, Abbott said that the course is,

“devoted to engaging students with fundamental questions of humanity from multiple perspectives,” and will “confront what it means to be human and how we understand ourselves, our relationships and our world.”

Abbott is hoping that the game will help students better understand the lessons that are taught in “Enduring Questions”

Being a gamer since the age of 6 (thanks to my parents), a desire to pursue a career in the gaming industry has been my passion ever since I laid my hands on Sonic the Hedgehog. Some of my favorite games include Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, Duke Nukem 3D, Final Fantasy 6, Killer7 and both the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil series.
