Pre-Order FFXI’s Shantotto Ascension – The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born

on October 29, 2009 3:10 PM

The latest in a string of mini-expansions for Final Fantasy XI is available to pre-order today through your PlayOnline Viewer. Shantotto Ascension – The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born focuses on the crazy Doctor Shantotto, definitely one of the more interesting characters in the MMO.

You can pre-order the scenario today for $9.99, and it will be available to download on Tuesday, November 9th. Also, here’s your reminder that all three of the scenarios released in 2009 for FFXI will be available in the upcoming Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection, so if you haven’t bought any of the previous ones and want to wait for the whole thing packaged together, that would probably be the route you would want to take.

The new scenario focuses on Doctor Shantotto as she returns to Windurst (my personal favorite city in the game, back when I played). She arrives back in town only one day after her unexplained absence, shocking those who work with her. You, as a random adventurer in this online world, are tasked to discover the truth about what happened to her in an attempt to explain her new personality change. Sounds fun…if I still played the game.

Story is one of the things FFXI does so well, and it stands out in the over-crowded MMO market because of it. If previous expansions and scenarios are any indication, this one is sure to be a lot of fun for fans of the title. Check out the new video below!
