The ESRB just assigned a rating to the PS Vita hack and slash exclusive Toukiden: The Age of Demons, that will hit the North American shores on February the 11th.
The game managed to get a T for Teen rating with the following summary:
This is an action game in which players assume the role of an elite fighting force that battles demons in feudal Japan. From a third-person perspective, players engage in quests and use daggers, swords, spears, and bows to defeat demons and larger boss creatures in frenetic combat. Battles are accompanied by sword slashes, cries of pain, and colorful light effects. Blood-splatter effects occur when demons are hit; some boss battles depict dismemberment of monster tentacles and appendages. A handful of female characters are depicted in outfits that expose large amounts of cleavage. The game also contains several alcohol references in the dialogue (e.g., “Ibuki, you smell of alcohol. Are you drunk?” “drunken fit of rage,” and “Yep, I am drunk. Very, very drunk.”).
The content descriptors are as follows: Alcohol Reference, Blood and Gore, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence
A T (13 and up) is actually a bit lower than the rating received by the original Japanese version, that was rated CERO C, which means it was deemed appropriate for gamers aged 15 and up.
