Dear readers, it has come to my attention that some PlayStation 3 games for some users are not booting up properly. The issue seems to only affect the classic spec models and not the PS3 Slim. Sony issued a statement and I’ve spoken to gamers and got the 4/11. Read more for the full scoop. Hang tight everyone with a Phat out there!
Anyone who has tried using the PS3 Phat system to play games like Assassin’s Creed II or Warhawk for about the past hour have been met with an error screen. No matter how many times you try to restart you cannot sign online. Some games like Everyday Shooter will not boot at all for some folks.
While its not exactly clear which games this is affecting or why, Sony has issued the statement “We’re aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we’re looking into it”. The less then settling statement confirms the issue across the board and sets the horizon for a patch hopefully tonight!
I myself am not experiencing this problem since I am currently playing Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares on the 250gb PS3 Slim. However, many people I know still own Phatboys. I sincerely hope that by the time most of you read this the issue will be fixed by Sony. Could this be a prelude to something bigger? Maybe we are about to be hit with some type of innovations in the Trophy system, or perhaps this is just a side affect from tweaks to the PSN Facebook app. Good luck everyone who is working hard to fix whatever caused this!
