If you're as old as I am, you may remember Bokosuka Wars, a 1983 strategy RPG released by ASCII for Sharp X1 first, and then ported to a bunch of primordial platforms until it landed on the NES in 1985. If you're younger, you might have played the Virtual Console release in 2008.

Lo and behold, the franchise is coming back with a sequel, Bokosuka Wars II, developed for PS4 by Pygmy Studio, that you might know for La Mulana EX, and that is now making the jump to Sony's home console, as reported by the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The game is scheduled for release later this year in Japan.

Famitsu's article also shows the first screenshots of the game, which doesn't exactly seem to overly stress on graphics, but that's not exactly what matters, considering the pedigree.

Bokosuka Wars is in fact considered by many the grandfather of the Japanese strategy RPG, having paved the way for the genre that gave birth to games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea and many others.

The basic gameplay will still be similar to the original, but it will come with new additions and systems. You can check out the screenshots below.
