PS4 Shortage in Japan Across August and September Predicted by Retailer via Funny Message

Japanese retailers often have a peculiar sense of humor, and walking around the stores in Akihabara or in other shopping areas of Tokyo, you can often come across funny and interesting ways to convey messages to their customers.

Below you can see a sign that appeared today at a store of the major retail chain Yodobashi Camera, relayed via Twitter by user 天才ミニミニ子宮マン.

The sign is showcased on the display where you can get purchase slips for the console, that can then be brought to the cashier to finalize the purchase.

The message says:

“Prophecy… Nostrayododamus

From late August to late September 2016, PS4 will be in short supply nationwide, and will go out of stock. Whether to believe this or not is up to the customer.”

While the way the message is presented is certainly funny, the prediction isn’t farfetched. The next three months show an unusual density for big PS4 releases in Japan, culminating with Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV in September. A shortage for the console wouldn’t certainly surprise me.
