Today Gust released a large batch of new screenshots of its upcoming JRPG Atelier Firis: Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey, that will release in Japan on September 29th.

First of all, we get the introduction of two known faces, more or less, Escha and Logy from Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemist of Dusk Sky. I say “more or less” because in this game Escha is 11 year old, while Logy is older (28), and works as a blacksmith in the town of Frusheim.

We also meet Kald Lau, a young historian with a calm personality and the ability to always think ahead. He visits ruins across the country, but he is extremely shy around girls due to a past trauma.

Kirsche Litter is the youngest certified alchemist, having passed the exam at the tender age of 10. She challenges Firis when they meet.

Kai Holthaus is Logy’s friend, and they often drink together. He’s a sailor with a bright and cheerful personality. He works very hard to make sure that his town, Frusheim, doesn’t lose to other towns.

Mea is Kai’s sister, and a cheerful tomboy. her hobby is fishing, and often leaves her shop to pursue her passion. This really annoys Kai, she’s getting in that rebellious age, so the two siblings have not been getting along as well as before.

We also get to see three different towns, Grau=Tal, Flocke and Reisenberg.

What you can find below can be considered a spoiler, so read at your own risk.

We get to see Firis’ certified alchemist exam, that includes both practical tests and written problems. It will test her alchemy experience accumulated through her journey. Once she has passed the test, she will finally be a certified alchemist, and a new journey will begin.

After achieving her goal, she will have to decide her place in the world, after talking with all of her friends, and several events will happen.

Since the game places a lot of emphasis on Firis’ costumes, of course she also has one to mark her passing the test, so in the gallery below you can also see her certified alchemist outfit.
