PS4/PS Vita Exclusive Ys VIII Gets New Screenshots on Famitsu: New Characters and Fishing

Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu had a spread on Nihon Falcom’s upcoming JRPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, releasing for PS Vita in Japan on July 21st and in 2017 for PS4.

This time around we meet two new characters, 18 year old Deina and 10 year old Kuina. Both have been shipwrecked and have settled in the Drifting Village.

Interestingly Deina’s name pretty much reads in the same way as Dana’s, but it’s written differently (デイナ for Deina and ダーナ for Dana). Whether this means anything or not, your guess is as good as mine.

We also get to see Hashibiroko, a highly intelligent bird that befriended Ricotta and has quietly settled in the Drifting Village as well.

Last, but not list, every RPG and MMORPG player’s favorite side-activity, that appears in Ys VIII as well: fishing!

Check out the gallery below, keeping in mind that the screenshots are from magazine scans, so the quality is what it is.
