If you're one of the many that could not wait for tomorrow's North American release of the PlayStation Vita TV, now renamed simply into PlayStation TV, today's PSN maintenance brought good news.

The latest PS Vita firmware update allowed logging into those sleek white Japanese PlayStation TV units with a North American account, but the PlayStation Store was still deactivated, making the unit, which is heavily based on digital download, nearly useless.

Today's maintenance enabled the Playstation Store and all related features, meaning that now Japanese PlayStation TVs are fully functional with a North American account, and you can finally start downloading your western PS Vita games on them.

The only surviving differences with the North American units (besides the color, duh) is the inverted layout between circle and X buttons, and the news and activities page, which remains in Japanese.
