PSN To Offer Release Day Digital Distribution

on September 25, 2012 6:33 PM

SCEA today announced a new “Day 1 Digital” distribution system that will allow users to pre-order digital copies of titles and play them on the game’s physical release day. To sweeten the deal, PSN Plus users will also get a 10% discount on digitally distributed titles. The initial list only mentions games due to release in October, so it’s unclear if Sony plans on sticking with this business model, but it’s awesome to see consoles catch up to the advents of PC gaming distribution.

You can view the initial list of titles below. Sony’s been really pushing advancement of their PlayStation Network, here’s hoping the plan sticks around for future titles.
