We reported a few days ago on a rumor that Konami had recently released a new update for P.T. that was locking the game for some players and making it unable to be played. From everything that we found, this did not seem to be a legitimate occurrence despite the insistence of some across the Internet.

Well, now we have received official word from Konami that there has indeed been no new update version 1.01 pushed out for P.T. that would have locked the game.

The official statement that Konami sent DualShockers said the following:

"After our investigation we can confirm that there have been no Konami or PlayStation Network (PSN) update that would have affected or prevent access to the game."

So there you have it. No need to bash Konami any longer for something that didn't happen. If your own version of P.T. has been locked up on your PS4, it's likely that you just don't have the correct licenses needed to play it in the first place. I'm not sure in this whole story began as a hoax or if it was a legitimate mistake on the part of whoever started this conundrum, but at least we now know the truth regarding this rumored update.

If your own version of P.T. is still downloaded onto your PS4 and is playable right now, I would imagine that you should be able to continue accessing it with no issues for the foreseeable future.
