Today Namco Bandai sent in a batch of information and screenshots about the upcoming Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram, in development at Artdink exclusively for the PS Vita and based on the popular Anime.

The original story of the game is based on the two movies Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie – Beginnings and Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie – Eternal, and it’s devised to be enjoyed together with the third movie, Rebellion, that will hit the theaters in October in Japan.

The gameplay is divided in two separate parts: day and night. During the day there will be some typical visual novel-like events and conversations between the protagonists. During the night the missions against the witches happen. The rate of experience gain during these stages will vary depending on the magical girls used and on the strength of their bond built during the day.

The witches that will appear during the fighting stages will have overwhelming power and resistance, so they’ll have to be fought using tactics aftwer finding out their weak spots. The soul gems typical of the anime are also present, and are used to revive a fallen character or to regain mana instantly.

In the gallery below you can see the first batch of screenshots and artwork, also including the introduction of the five main characters: Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi, Mami Tomoe, Sayaka Miki and Kyoko Sakura.
