Purchasing FFXIII tomorrow? You Shall Be Rewarded!

No special, collectors or limited editions of FFXIII in North American makes me a sad panda. You know what partially makes up for it? This little tidbit of info from the FFXIV beta site: There is apparently a FFXIV beta invite code in retail copies of FFXIII. Howe Squeenix kept this quiet until the day before release is anyone’s guess, but hey, more power to them.  Hit the jump for the new details from the beta site, which also includes hints about the upcoming PS3 beta of the new MMO.

  • If you have received a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code for registering FINAL FANTASY XIII on the Square Enix Members site, please use it to apply for the beta test.
  • If you have already applied for the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta test but would like to apply for the PlayStation 3 beta with a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, please be aware that all previous applications will be invalidated.
  • The promotional code will also be required to obtain the FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item, so please hold on to your code until the game’s official release.

That is in the “fine print” section of the FFXIV beta site. This strongly hints at a PS3 beta coming up, possibly very soon. So if you want to use the code to apply for a beta invite, you can do so for the PS3 version of the game. However, you can’t do both PC and PS3, so pick one or the other.  I plan on playing the game on the PS3 when it officially releases, so this is some pretty sweet news on my end. Whether or not this code is only in PS3 versions of FFXIII or not is not mentioned…but it isn’t mentioned that it’s limited to only certain versions either. Here’s hoping!
