Persona 4: The Animation will shortly make it's North American retail debut via Sentai Filmworks. Releasing on September 18th, it was originally set to retail for a whopping $70. That isn't bad, considering it contains the first 12 episodes and a director's cut of the first, but still is a nice chunk of change.

Fortunately, the set shall now retail for $10 less because, according to the distributor, the Japanese company who owns the license to that particular audio/voice track does not want it published in the North American release. The odd thing here is that this change applies solely to the BluRay version of the product, not the DVD release, which will still go to stores containing full voice audio in both English and Japanese.

Is there a silver lining in all of this? Sure! You'll actually be able to pick up either version and they will both play nicely in any BluRay player. You can thank me later. In the meantime, consider picking this up if you're a Persona 4 or anime fan, as the series is rather good, even if it deviates from the game's story in parts.
