The super popular Puzzle and Dragons is teaming up with the Netflix original, Voltron: Legendary Defender. The animated show is a reboot of the classic 80s cartoon of the same name. The new series is currently in its second season (as of January 20th) and shows no signs of slowing down.

This crossover will be 'first collaboration designed exclusively for the North American region in Puzzle & Dragons, continuing the impressive lineup of brand partnerships,' according to the press release. The crossover with pop culture franchises has been quite impressive, with the game combining forces with Super Mario BrosMonster HunterHello Kitty, and DC Comics.

The details of the Voltron crossover 'will be announced soon' including the featured characters from the show.

Puzzle and Dragons is a match 3 type puzzler with RPG elements. The main quest of the game is to collect and raise different monsters to master their different elemental statuses. This in turn makes conquering the different levels and dungeons easier.

The game was originally released in 2012 for iOS and Android, and still maintains a strong user base to this day. Some  spin-offs, including Puzzle & Dragons Z + Super Mario Bros. Edition have made it onto consoles like the 3DS.

With the nostalgic franchise of Voltron joining Gungho Online's roster of guest collaborations, it's anyone's guess who they team up with next.
