Today, publisher Bethesda and developer id Software announced that the previously announced Quake Champions Closed Beta will begin on April 6th with an initial group of testers.

According to Bethesda, more players will be added to the beta over time, so if you haven't already, be sure to sign up now. Further details, such as what characters and arenas will be included in the beta, was not divulged. Neither was an end date for the beta.

Quake Champions is in development for PC and is planned to release sometime this year. According to id Software, a console release is not out of the realm of possibility.

In other recent and related news, id Software clarified the game's payment model, revealing it is both free-to-play and not free-to-play.
