Quantic Dream’s Unannounced PS4 Exclusive Will Probably Use Scaleform

We know that Quantic Dream is working on one or more unannounced PS4 exclusives in collaboration with Sony Worldwide Studios, and today we learn a little more on how those games will be created thanks to a career opportunity ad seeking an engine programmer who will also work on the user interface.

Besides the knowledge of PS4 architecture, the ad lists experience with Scaleform.

Scaleform is an advanced UI solution developed by Autodesk that can create “powerful and immersive user interfaces” and “high-performance menus, graphics, and 2.5D UI elements” using adobe Flash as a base. It’s been used in several successful titles, including Grand Theft Auto V and PlanetSide 2.

The user interface has always been a quite important in previous Quantic Dream games, and has evolved into something very subtle with Beyond: Two Souls, to enhance the game’s cinematic feeling.

Hopefully we’ll hear about Quantic Dream’s upcoming game soon enough. It’s been almost a year until they gave us a tease with The Dark Sorcerer. With Quantic Dream, Sony Santa Monica, Sony Bend, Guerrilla Games, and more still having to unveil their major projects, Sony seems to be still holding some of its best cards close to its chest.
