Earlier this week, fans of the Ratchet & Clank series were treated to the news that several big name talents would be joining the cast including Rosario Dawson, Paul Giamatti, and the one-and-only Sylvester Stallone – while the film is set to bring the dynamic duo to the big screen, Sony confirmed that the wait for both the feature film and the upcoming PS4 reboot title will have to be a little longer.
In a new post on the PlayStation blog, Sony confirmed that the feature film adaptation of Ratchet & Clank will be coming to theaters on April 29th, 2016, with Focus Features (The Theory of Everything) to handle distribution of the film in the US, and will include several notable voice talents such as Dawson, Giamatti, and Stallone alongside the core voice cast from the original video game series.
Alongside the movie’s release, Sony also confirmed that the upcoming PS4 “re-imagining” of Ratchet & Clank is expected for release in Spring 2016 alongside the movie’s release. Sony elaborated more on the upcoming title in its blog post that the new title re-tells the origin story that ties in closely and expands upon the movie’s narrative.” The game will also feature “several new levels along with reimagined classic locales like Metropolis, brand new weapons and completely redone visuals made possible by the power of the PlayStation 4.”
The Ratchet & Clank feature film adaptation will release on April 29th, 2016, and the upcoming PS4 reboot from Insomniac Games is expected for release in Spring 2016.
