Spending almost 25 years at Ubisoft and in the process creating such memorable and iconic games and characters like Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil, game designer Michel Ancel is now going to be leading the charge for a new indie development studio, while at the same time keeping his feet wet still at Ubisoft.

A press release sent out detailed that Michel Ancel will be leading a new indie development studio, Wild Sheep, with the new company based in Montpelier, France and already starting work on an original title with a team of 13 employees.

Meanwhile, Ancel will still be assisting with development at Ubisoft, with a Ubisoft's managing director Xavier Poix clarifying that Ancel will be leading creatively on "select projects,"  and also mentioning:

"Ubisoft Montpellier is a hotbed for artistic game development, including great games like RaymanBeyond Good and Evil, and Valiant HeartsWe are fortunate to have some of the industry's finest talents, including Michel Ancel, working with us at our studio."
