Community members of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and indeed all of the Elder Scrolls titles have been known for their dedication to modding, and a big part of that is being able to dig through the game’s complex file structure. In this case, Bethesda forum users like Karellan and Raestloz discovered something out of the ordinary in the new files of the recent patch 1.5.26.

Pete Hines, Bethesda Softworks’ VP of PR and Marketing has already tweeted that he’s working to get more information on the coming Skyrim DLC in the next week or so. Read on after the break for a peek into what might be coming.

Hidden among the various changes and new files were a set of files added to the game concerning Snow Elves. According to The Elder Scrolls Wiki, Snow Elves were a race of elves that lived in the province of Skyrim before the Nords, and are propehcised to return. It should be interesting to see what impact that could have on the civil war in Skyrim, or the tense peace treaty between the Empire and Aldmeri Dominion. Certainly it promises to be an interesting new adventure for the Dovahkiin.

We’ll bring you all the latest on the coming Skyrim DLC as it gets officially announced, and we get a peek into the coming war between Man and Mer.
