Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Yesterday Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale was released. Recettear is an independently developed anime-style game focusing on a young girl who learns that she must repay her father’s debt. To do so, she decides to open an item shop and pay back the debt in installments. The player has to choose which items to put in the shop, and then haggle with customers for the price at which to sell each item. With every successful sale, the player earns experience and eventually can level up. Progressing through the levels comes with perks such as being able to buy items from customers and ordering items in advance. Eventually players can also dungeon crawl with the help of a few in-game companions in order to find more items.

Recettear is available through Steam or from its website, http://www.carpefulgur.com/recettear/, for $19.99, and there is also a free demo that allows the player to play up through making the first payment of the character’s debt.
