A novel dedicated to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII by Benny Matsuyama was scheduled for release on December the 19th in Japan with the subtitle "Chronicle of a Chaotic Era", but Square Enix announced today that the release has been canceled due to an illness affecting the author.

No further information or details were given, and while we don't know the nature of Matsuyama-san's illness, it has to be something rather serious to cause the cancellation of the novel's release.
