What began as a fan remake of Resident Evil 2 is now moving into a major new milestone, and developer Invader Studios has a new trailer to show for it.

After Capcom’s request that the fan development of a Resident Evil 2 remake be ended, Invader Studios shifted gears to create a survival horror title that is inspired by the survival horror tropes of the 90’s. So was born Daymare: 1998.

In the cinematic trailer below, we get panning shots of a small town's main street that has clearly been overrun with disaster. As it becomes clearer that some outbreak has occurred, the voice-over becomes more and more sinister.

The developer’s Kickstarter went live today. The game will be considered fully funded when it hits $190,377.00.  At this time, there is $7,883.00 in support and 29 days left to go before the Kickstarter ends.

Daymare: 1998 is expected to release only for PC right now. The team seems to be aiming for a July 2018 launch.
