A new multiplayer mode for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has been announced, and it looks awesome. Meet the "Heroes" mode, where a multitude of different player characters from the various Resident Evil games are teaming up to take each other on.  The trailer, which is linked after the jump, shows series heroes; Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield of Resident Evil 2, Carlos Olivera and Jill Valentine, of Resident Evil 3 (I know Jill is from the first game, but she is wearing her costume from 3) as they face off against the grey team of anti-heroes; Ada Wong  and Hunk from Resident Evil 2, Nicholai Ginovaf from Resident Evil 3 and a previously unseen character from the Umbrella Security Service code named  Lone Wolf.

The new mode will pit these two teams against each other in a battle for survival.  It will not be quite so easy however, as the Bio-Organic Weapons and zombies will also be attacking each team, presenting the possibility for some delightfully chaotic multiplayer matches.  I'm kind of happy that Capcom has just made the competitive multiplayer for Resident Evil its own game, rather than tack it on to a core game in the series.  It allows for it to be a bit more silly and non-cannon.  Check out the trailer after the jump.
