The upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will feature both returning hero Claire Redfield and the daughter of Resident Evil hero Barry Burton, publisher Capcom has revealed.

Players will be able to play either singleplayer or co-op, with Claire taking the role of the main protagonist. Moira Burton will act as a more supportive character and will throw out healing herbs.

Taking place between Resident Evil 5 and 6, the game begins with the pair getting kidnapped and ending up in deserted island prison.

In order to esacape, the pair have to deal with a new enemy called the Afflicted. Dealing with these enemies will apparently have a much more survival-horror focus, with players able to sneak past the Afflicted in order to preserve their ammo.

Producer Michiteru Okabe says that following what made the previous Resident Evil games great will be key during development.

I want this to be both a game that doesn't lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is set for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC next year.
