Rift’s Valentine’s Day Wedding Event is One for the Record Books

on February 8, 2012 5:00 PM

Players who find love and get hitched on Valentine’s Day in Trion Worlds’ Rift will forever be memorialized in the next Guinness Book of World Records if all goes according to plan. The attempt for most in-game marriages (or ascensions) in a 24-hour period starts Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time and ends the following day at the same time. In order to promote their cause, the folks at Trion Worlds have released the trailer embedded for you after the jump, which scans the world of Telara quickly before getting to business.

As you can see from the screenshot above, the denizens of this virtual world are totally cool with same-sex nuptials. It seems Proposition 8 was never a thing in the land of Telara. In addition to literally becoming part of the record books, players who participate receive the in-game title of “The Avowed.”

So who’s getting hitched in Telara next week? Remember: You’ll have what’s quite possibly the most cliche anniversary ever. But you’ll also be in the Guinness Book of World Records, a dream only those of us with incredibly long fingernails have seriously dared chase.
