While it may have been quite a surprise at first to hear that the classic beat-em-up River City Ransom would be getting a sequel, of all things, that possibility of a follow-up game has been made a reality now that the Kickstarter-backed sequel River City Ransom: Underground has met its initial funding goals.

With the project initially started at the beginning of September, River City Ransom: Underground has successfully raised its initial goal of $180,000 with over 4,000 backers and 53 hours left until the end of its Kickstarter campaign this coming Wednesday. While the game is now confirmed to be coming to Windows PC with meeting its first funding goal, moving it to other platforms might be difficult with its other stretch goals - currently, $280,000 will move the game onto PS4 and PS Vita, $320,000 will provide Wii U and 3DS versions of the  game, and $360,000 will offer a version for Xbox One.

Congratulations, River City Ransom fans - your sequel is officially on its way! Can the game move onto other platforms and hit a stretch goal (or two) before the Kickstarter campaign ends on Wednesday?
