Rumors of remakes of two PlayStation 2 fan favorites have been circulating the internet for quite some time now. And these rumors were all but confirmed by yesterday's leak of their box art. Although the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection and the Prince of Persia 3D Trilogy have not been confirmed by their respective publishers, previous such leaks and their subsequent confirmations leave me optimistic for this one.
While I am intrigued by the purported 3D aspects of these rumored remakes, this rumor also leaves me slightly disappointed by the lack of original games being released recently. I like old games as much as the next guy, but they were good when they first came out and are still fun to play in their original formats. So why the need for so many remakes? I for one would rather see more original content than remakes and ports - so I'm glad I chose to purchase an Xbox 360 rather than a PlayStation 3.
